Colourlessness

White people –in general- expose their pain-derived-wisdom
In abstractions aimed at finding relief
Black people –in general- over-shout their pain-derived-wisdom
With simplicities aimed at undoing themselves of the cause
--Stop sobbing (like a white kid!);No-one died, right?;
--And even that ain’t as sad as it seems!--
And over the difference in solutions to equal problems
They are -just naturally- in misapprehension
And irritation with each other
And blame the other of ignorance as
The one says that life cannot truthfully be that ‘happy’
And the other feels that life cannot essentially be that ‘sad’
Whereas the Truth is of all and no colour;
The Truth is as always
In between.
Life can neither be ‘so’ sad nor ‘so’ happy;
Which Truth is personified in –at least- the three coloured people
I helped put on this earth;
As they inherited the multi-colour and colour-less capacity
To hug with a mix of feelings
To render that chuckling embrace that carries both
Understanding and recognition for the bravery of honesty
As well as encouragement to cheer up
Through their laughter at the humour that –just naturally-
Springs from all abstractions; from life-as-it-really-is.
They inherited that capacity to confirm each and everyone’s right to exist--
And they are my price and my reward
And always and ever bring me back amongst the living
From my inherited river of tears.
