Melting Pot

Multiculturalism is this world’s challenge of the century
And our lovely islands have an advancement in this regard
But as the whole of life consists of opposite poles
Our melting is so overly good that somehow it passed its equilibrium.

Good parenting means to teach children
To be kind, to be just and to be humane and honest;
But how can one expect anyone to both be kind and honest
When living in a melting pot of opposing values?

And how can we choose if the determinant for favouring either one or another
By definition springs from our specific personal system of values,
And any choice for honest justice
Will in our melted tribunals be called ‘discrimination’?

Consequently (you see?, we’re wise!) we are always ‘truly’ humane
By putting on a smile and utter the kind and pleasing
And never distinguish again
On the basis of any specific set of principles.

And pay no mind that in doing so, we find ourselves becoming opportunists
That apply our (natural) susceptibility to the multitudinous systems of reference
As it suits the moment.
And freely prostitute our honour in the melting pot.

But what if we could choose
And make a difference
Wouldn’t we end up with a misbalanced competitiveness
And friction and strife and war?
